While St. Patrick may be the patron saint of Ireland, many do not realize that he is actually a Welshman (or was born and raised in what is now Wales). He is said to have founded a church at this site sometime in the mid 5th century after being shipwrecked here on a return trip from Ireland. The current church was likely built in the 12th century, and underwent renovations in the 19th century. The Dalai Lama has visited the church and is said to have referred to it as “the most peaceful spot on earth.”
Llanbadrig is located about an hours drive from Isfryn, on the far northern tip of Anglesey. If you are touring Anglesey, however, it is well worth the stop.
